These are not heavy-duty, but they provide enough stability for a lightweight kayak. The price is ...

It took me longer than usual to assemble the kayak racks because of the rubber holes' diameter and ensuring the square beneath the bolt head fit properly into the kayak pipe. It was a challenging task, but I managed to figure out some helpful tips that can save you time.
Here are the tips I discovered:
Take a small piece of paper towel dampened with a mixture of dish detergent and water. Rub this into the rubber holes (as shown in pic3). This lubricates the holes and makes it easier to insert the bolts.
Before inserting any bolts, line them up through the rubber holes to ensure correct alignment with the metal plates.
When tightening the nuts, place your thumb on the head of the screw and press down while turning the wrench. This helps the bolt head go smoothly down the hole and fit into the square of the metal pipe.
If the bolt head doesn't go all the way down, gently tap the bolt to push it back out of the rubber hole. Then realign it and try screwing it back in. It might take a few attempts to get it right. In my case, only one bolt didn't fit well, and I had to reset it five times.
Lubricating the holes with soap or detergent definitely makes it easier for the screw heads to go down smoothly. Good luck with your assembly! However, keep in mind that the metal used in these racks might not be as thick or sturdy as in older models. Therefore, it's important to test the supplied tie-down straps on something around your house to ensure they grab securely and don't loosen. Remember to protect your kayaks properly. I hope these tips help you out.

The roof got scratched.

After a 3-hour drive, I unfortunately experienced scratches on my roof caused by the bolts rubbing against the bottom. This led to the need to reseal the metal on the roof. Considering these issues, I do not recommend using these kayak racks and have decided to purchase a trailer instead.

It's an excellent product at a great price.

These kayak racks are suitable for the job, especially for shorter trips around town or nearby areas. However, it is important to allocate sufficient time for the assembly process. The main challenge lies in getting the bolts through the pads/bars and tightening them securely. One helpful technique I found was to insert the bolt partially, tighten it a few turns, and then use the claw of a hammer to pull the end of the bolt, allowing it to catch and secure properly. Once assembled, the racks can be easily mounted on the cross bars and effectively fulfill their purpose, all at an attractive price point.

I really like these.

We successfully installed these kayak racks on the top of our Canam side by side, and they work flawlessly for securely transporting our kayaks!

I'm very happy, but there is one concern.

I am extremely pleased. However, this product is not suitable for round tube racking systems. If you secure the straps tightly across, there will be minimal to zero movement with round tube racking.
